The simplest way to reach Le Mont Dore is by train. There are four trains each day between Le Mont Dore and Clermont-Ferrand.

After that, all you have to do is make the three kilometres that separate the hostel from Le Mont Dore.
-By foot for the more courageous.
-By bus: Free during the ski season, there is a fare from May to September. However, the last bus is at 6pm.

1-To reach Clermont-Ferrand:
-From Paris, take the A71 (3 hours)
-From Montpellier, take the A75.
-From Lyon, take the A72 (by St-Etienne)
2-After Clermont-Ferrand:
-Take the N89 in the Bordeaux direction for 15-20km, then take the road to the left in Randanne, in the direction of Le Mont Dore D983.
3-From Bordeaux: Take the A89 until you reach Bourg-Lastic.
4-From Poitiers: By Gueret then Aubusson then Giat and finally Le Mont Dore.
5-Once in Le Mont Dore:
Follow the directions for Le Sancy, uphill for 3-4km. The youth hostel is the last chalet on the right before the parking spaces for the cable-car, across from the Chomets chair-lift.
